Wonderful resort at 974 m above sea level, ideal for a relaxing trip, which offers splendid views of the bay below Laveno, Lake Maggiore and the Valcuvia. Poggio Sant'Elsa be reached through a convenient and scenic cable car or, for hikers along a path from Brenna Laveno reach Poggio Sant'Elsa (less than 2 hours walk from the station LeNord Laveno - Mombello). From the hill, where there is a traditional restaurant, starts a steep path that leads to the summit of Sasso del Ferro
(1062 m) from where the view extends over a broader landscape of lakes and mountains. The top of the Poggio Sant'Elsa is also a regular haunt of paragliders from here then spread their wings to land on the plain below.
This is unlike any other cable ride to the top of a mountain that you will experience. Two out of three cars are completely open baskets that you step into as the cableway is moving, without slowing down. It is even more exciting with two people! The views from above Laveno are incredible. The large updrafts on this side of the lake also provide a hang glider's paradise. This is a must see if you visit Lago Maggiore.
